HDA

The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), formerly the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA), is the US association that represents distributors for the pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution industry and advocates for safety and efficiency in the supply chain. It was formed in 1876 as the Western Wholesale Druggists' Association (WWDA) in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has expanded to represent over 220 distributors, manufacturers, and service providers both in the US and internationally. Its current headquarters are in Arlington, Virginia.

HDA advocates for the use of the GS1 system, including the use of linear symbologies (such as GS1-128) and the two-dimensional GS1 DataMatrix symbology. HDA is also involved in the implementation of the 2013 Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) in the US.
