Deutsche Post Identcode
Deutsche Post Identcode is used by the German postal system (Deutsche Post AG [DHL]) for mail routing. It is a variant of the Interleaved 2 of 5 symbology; only the check digit is different.
The symbol comprises the following elements:
-
Leading quiet zone
-
Start pattern (narrow bar, narrow space, narrow bar, narrow space)
-
One or more pairs of symbol characters that represent data (including an optional check digit)
-
Stop pattern (wide bar, narrow space, narrow bar)
-
Trailing quiet zone
Deutsche Post Identcode encodes a string of 11 or 12 digits, as follows:
-
Two-digit mail center distribution identifier
-
Three-digit customer code
-
Six-digit delivery identifier
-
One-digit check digit (optional)
Deutsche Post Identcode imposes a format on the human readable interpretation that includes periods (which are not part of the barcode symbol).
This symbology supports all numeric digits (0-9).
Deutsche Post Identcode contains an optional check digit that is based on the modulo 10 (mod 10) algorithm.
