CC-A
GS1 DataBar Limited with CC-A
Composite Component A (CC-A) is a composite barcode component that can be used in conjunction with GS1-128, EAN/JAN-8, EAN/JAN-13, UPC-A, GS1 DataBar Limited, or any member of the GS1 DataBar and GS1 DataBar Expanded families of symbologies. It is based on MicroPDF417 and is designed to minimize symbol size relative to the amount of encoded data.
CC-A is defined in ISO/IEC 24723 Information technology - Automatic identification and data capture techniques - GS1 Composite bar code symbology specification.
Each CC-A symbol can encode up to 56 digits and contains between 3 and 12 rows and from two to four columns. (Four columns are mandatory when the one-dimensional component is GS1-128 [UCC/EAN-128].) Only certain combinations of rows and columns are allowed, as specified in the following table.

Each row of a two-column or four-column CC-A symbol begins with a quiet zone and a left row address pattern. Each ends with a right row address pattern, a one-module-wide stop bar, and a quiet zone. (The left row address pattern is omitted from a three-column CC-A symbol.) What comes in between depends on the number of columns. There will be from one to four codewords and from zero to one center row address pattern. For more information, refer to the CC-A specification.
Each codeword consists of four bars and four spaces made up of 17 rectangular modules in one row. Row height is variable and adjustable. The error correction level is fixed at certain levels depending on the number of rows and columns.

CC-A dimensions depend on the amount of data that is entered into a symbol. The height of any CC-A symbol can be from 3 to 12 rows and will always be the minimum that is possible while still keeping the overall width no wider than the one-dimensional barcode component.
The row height can range from 2X to 10X, where "X" is the current X dimension (which must be the same as the X dimension of the one-dimensional component). The width of a symbol can be from 40X to 101X. A minimum quiet zone of 1X is required on the left and right.
